The Power of Youth

The Power of Youth efforts began in the summer of 2009.

From bake sales to lemonade stands, to movie nights and swim-a-thons, kids proved they are powerful and that hometown heroes from the youngest among us populate our town. News articles attest to this energy.

We are committed to empowering kids to love and support their library!  They are heroes!

The Power of Youth efforts raises almost $20,000 to date!    
We are looking for great ideas and volunteer leadership to mentor our young heroes through the Power of Youth!

Writing Contest! 

Prior to our grand opening on November 14, 2009, a writing contest was held through the library’s partnership with the City of Lafayette, the Library and Learning Center Foundation, the County Library and our local schools.  
The four authors of the winning essays were the first ones across the threshold of the new library on opening day!  Check out the winners’ essays:
